Producer of Coachella Valley, California Figs

Welcome to Meccagold.com, the web site home of K & W Farms, Inc. We are a small multigenerational farming family. Nestled in the Coachella Valley, surrounded by the mountains, Lowell and Ethelena Weeks first planted grapes in 1952. This first start ended up as 65 acres of table grapes and 15 acres of tangerines. We now farm 560 acres of grapes, lemons, tangerines, tangelos, and figs. My father first wanted to plant figs in 1992 because he liked to eat them himself and thought others would too. I even went so far as to chastise him in a family meeting saying that we didn't have the time to waste growing the figs and that nobody would want to eat them. That first half-acre of figs have now become 40 acres. My father made me apologize to him on the record in a later family meeting. We meet so many people that tell us that they used to eat figs as kids but haven't had one in years or others who say they have no idea what a fig is. Whatever the case, we know that so many people love our figs and we are happy to have so many new happy friends and customers.
